ALMOSYS was founded in 2019 by Andreas Schimmel with a focus on research in the field of automatic detection of alpine mass movements, monitoring of natural hazards, and seismic and infrasound signal analyses. The main product of this company is the automatic detection system MAMODIS, which has been developed in cooperation with the Institute of Mountain Risk Engineering at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. The system is based on one seimsic and one infrasound sensor and can detect mass movements like debris flows, debris floods or avalanches, in real time directly at the sensor site.
